Opening Soon - Nilai International School – January 2010

Introduction
Current trends are demonstrating that parents are spoilt for choice in most major metro areas of Malaysia for good quality International Schools. Putra Nilai

Nilai International School
The most recent addition to Putra Nilai is Nilai International School, a modern and purpose built school in a conducive, safe and stimulating environment, with added features to ensure the safety of your children. This 15 acre, world class standard campus, set for her first intake in January 2010 will also have full boarding facilities.

The parent company of the School is Nilai Resources Group Berhad, a company listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia, have a over 10 years of track record in the tertiary education industry and a strong financial background.

British Curriculum
The Nilai International School will offer the internationally recognised British Cambridge curriculum from the Primary level all the way to Year 13 level (A-Levels). The benefits of the Cambridge International Programme is a solid framework to develop Mathematics, English and Science skills and knowledge in children as young as  5 years old.  

The Cambridge International Primary Programme provides guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning, and allows teachers to assess children’s learning as they progress.

The International Primary Programme aids identification of a student’s strengths and weaknesses and can be used to support learning and development. The Primary Programme progresses students seamlessly into middle years curricula, such as Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme, O Level and IGCSE.

The Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme is a framework for educational success for students approximately 11-14 years old. It builds on the primary stage, and develops children’s knowledge and skills. Lower Secondary also offers schools a means of tracking student progress through the lower secondary phase, with an integrated package of teaching, learning and assessment materials.

External benchmark
As an international programme, the Primary Programme measures students’ progress over time. Teachers may continue to follow a local curriculum, to meet the statutory requirements of their national system, whilst using the Progression Tests and the Analysis Tool to enhance their teaching and reporting. Similarly, the Primary Programme can be used for teaching and tracking the core skills in English, Mathematics and Science.

For the Lower Secondaey Students they can sit for the Cambridge Checkpoint tests which provide detailed feedback on students’ strengths and weaknesses before they move into the 14-16/IGCSE/O Level stage. Both programmes allow detailed, structured reporting to parents.

International curriculum
Appropriate and relevant internationally, the Cambridge Programme has been designed to be culturally sensitive. It includes top–quality teaching and assessment resources appropriate for teaching and learning in local and international schools.

Flexibility
The Cambridge Programme complements a range of teaching methods and curricula. The modular nature of the Cambridge International programme means that it can either be used as the central teaching curriculum or to complement other curricula.

Inclusion Programme
Apart from the British Cambridge International Examinations curriculum, Nilai International School will provide an “Inclusion Programme” for special needs children. This curriculum will be carried out by a Special Developmental Support Unit. Nilai International School will be the only international school in Malaysia and in the South East Asian region to offer such inclusion facilities for these groups of children.

Sports and Extra Curricular Activities
Together with the usual sports such as swimming, tennis, basketball, football, badminton, table tennis, etc Nilai International School will offer Golf lessons. Students will be coached by professionals and upon acquiring the necessary skills students will have access to 27 hole Golf course that provides challenge, excitement and scenic splendour at the Nilai Springs Golf and Country Club (as sister company of the school) which is 5 minutes by shuttle bus from the school. A Family Adventure Camp for parents and children to bond and to explore the Malaysia’s flora and fauna amidst the various eco and national parks.
